However, the other approach is to save the page to disc. That's File > Save Page As if the menu bar is there, or ctrl-S if it isn't [1]. Make sure the "Save as type" is "Web page, complete" or the equivalent in your browser. Now, you should have two files on disc, the Web page, and a folder of all the related files, e.g. images, Flash movies, JavaScript, CSS etc. Any images you want to keep, will be found in there, bypassing any tricks they thought they were using. (This is also useful for other tasks.)

Now, Webshots does have the disadvantage of using a Flash movie for the smaller image, which is a real pain as you can't view that as easily. For that, a screenshot may be easiest unless you have the stand-alone Flash Player or .swf registered to some other program. But Windows Explorer's thumbnail and filmstrip views, as well as Mac OS X's equivalent, may not show a thumbnail for Flash movies. However, you can just save the full-size image in the case of Webshots. I am not sure if this applies for images where there is no full-size view, as in the past you always had a link to one even if you just got the same size of image again.

Or, you could open the .swf in Flash itself and take the image out. I don't know how many people actually own Flash, I don't.
